“Truth About Six Pack Abs” e-book? Is it worth spending?

If you have been in training and fitness industry for a while, you would most probably hear about the e-book “Truth about six packs Abs” by Michael Geary. It is currently the number one abdominal e-book in the world. Thus it is interesting to review the e-book to see if it is worth spending $39.95.

It starts by explaining the connection between body fat % and the visibility of six pack abs. Many people have a misconception that doing a few hundred abs crunch per day will give you that wash board abs. Another crucial factor mentioned is the right mental attitude. From my point of view, good mental attitude count for everything because the main reason for people giving excuses of not exercising is procrastination, laziness and poor mental attitude. So it is really valuable to be mentioned in the book.

The big part of the book is devoted to nutrition. Geary explains important concepts such as blood sugar/insulin process, different type of carbohydrates and Glycemic Index of various foods. He also discuss why eating the right Fats can actually make you leaner. The role of infrequent feeding with cheat day will help you reduce the craving feeling for foods.

The book went on to suggest two good substances: calcium and teas on losing fat. It also points out the two evils: high fructose corn syrup and Trans fats on hindering your fitness success. Also the bad effect of food with excess estrogenic compound is included. He also suggests alternative source of natural, grass-fed foods rather than factory farm raised or processed food. However, I personally find it troublesome and costly to choose every food source to be 100% natural as suggested.

Overall, I feel the nutrition section well covered the whole basic principles of nutrition and diet, although someone who is hoping for just a training e-book will be dissatisfied. This also explains the trend that people tend to be focus mainly on exercise and ignore the powerful effect that a right eating habit can serve.

The part of abdominal exercises impressed me the most. Geary analyzed scientifically reasons why certain abdominal exercises are not effective and may put undue stress on the lower back. He stressed the focus on building strong hip flexor, abdominals and lower back muscle all together. He offers 2 lists of abdominal exercises to avoid and recommend. Unlike some others sources, “Truth about abs” doesn’t suggest to train abs every day but on less frequent period. It also includes 7 levels of abs exercises from beginner to advance. All the suggested exercises come with picture illustration and description.

It also explains how to use full body training, multi joint exercises to maximize the metabolic effect to stay lean. Bear in mind that, just as the title suggested, “Truth about abs” mainly offers exercises which help to get a lean body shape. Those who are looking for weight gain should keep this in mind while reading the e-book.

All in all, “Truth about abs” is a worthy e-book with 131 pages. Not only does it have a clear, informative section on nutrition and diet, but also a well planned, easy to follow exercises section. It serves as a great starting point for those who are serious on getting a leaner body and nice looking abs.
