Strength Training Adds Bone Mass
Until recently, it was thought that after the age of 30, exercise could only reduce the rate of bone loss. However, the latest research performed at the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University indicates that strength training at any age can actually add bone, not just slow its loss. Strength training works by applying a force to the bone that creates a stimulus for new bone formation.

Not only does your body need magnesium and other nutrients to assimilate calcium into your bones, it also needs strength training to retain calcium. Keeton quotes nutritional biochemist Dr. Neil S. Orenstein: “Without consideration of these effects, no amount of calcium supplementation will prevent osteoporosis.”

Hehe, hy vọng mọi người thấy thêm 1 benefit nữa của gym :D

Crystal,My husband got me a bbygoudg for Christmas last year and I really like it. Now that I’m pregnant, I’ve let my subscription go but I plan to add it back after the baby. It really made me realize that I was not as active as I thought. It motivated me during the day at work to get up from my desk and do short walks or take the steps a few times over my lunch break. I’ve also tried the Shred-It program that Ashley mentioned, it was free on our cable and I really liked it. You may find it easier to look for a few 10 minute breaks in your day to get your activity rather than trying to find 30-60 minutes all at once. Try keeping fitness bands in your office, wearing a pedometer, exercise clothes and shoes in your car just in case you get an unexpected chance to work out. Keep up the great work with your food, glad you decided to work on the calcium.Jenny
